Cook wins at Toccoa for first SAS win since '06

TOCCOA, Ga. (Aug. 9) — Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C., raced to a $5,000 victory on the O'Reilly Southern All Star Series at Toccoa Speedway. Cook, who started fifth and made a three-wide pass around Ivedent Lloyd Jr. and Casey Roberts near the lap-10 mark, posted his eighth career series victory and first since winning in July 2006 at Rome (Ga.) Speedway. "I was beginning to wonder if we were going to get another win, but our car was very strong at Toccoa," Cook said.
Hometown driver Roberts finished second followed by series rookies Derek Ellis of Chatsworth, Ga., and Jason Fitzgerald of Jacksonville, Fla. Lloyd ended up fifth. The next series event is scheduled for Aug. 23 at Dixie Speedway in Woodtock, Ga., for the $5,000-to-win rain makeup of the Bill Ingram Memorial.
