Tucker collects $5,000 Clash win at Friendship
From series reports
ELKIN, N.C. (Sept. 6) — Ray Tucker of Greensboro, N.C., picked up $5,000 for his 50-lap victory in Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series action at Friendship Motor Speedway. Tucker notched his second series victory of the year in outrunning G.R. Smith of Huntersville, N.C., and Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C., as the series continued its playoff-style Countdown to the Cup. Polesitter Dan Breuer led early before mechanical issues sent him pitside and Ed Gibbons of Manning, S.C., who inherited the lead briefly from Breuer, ended up fourth.
Four-time series champion Ricky Weeks, who entered the event leading the points, took a hit as he finished just 21st in the rundown. That allowed Dennis "Rambo" Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., to take command in the series title chase.
The Sept. 5 Carolina Clash event at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, N.C., was rained out and rescheduled for Sept. 19. Four races remain overall.
