English outduels Dacus for $3,000 SRRS victory

ATWOOD, Tenn. (Sept. 6) — Polesitter Terry English of Benton, Ky., regained the lead from Dane Dacus of Arlington, Tenn., after a restart with three laps remaining for a $3,000 victory on the Southern Regional Racing Series at Clayhill Motorsports Park. Dacus, who took the lead on the fourth lap but later developed mechanical problems with the right-front corner on his No. 54, settled for second in the 40-lapper. Hometown driver T. J. Herndon, who started 14th, rallied to finish third with Anthony Burroughs of Athens, Ala., and Brandon King of Decatur, Ala., rounded out the top five. Jessie Bailey of Drummonds, Tenn., started outside the front row and ended up ninth.

English has two career SRRS victories; the first came April 21, 2007, at Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, Tenn. ...
