Weeks extends Clash points lead with Gastonia victory
From series reports
GASTONIA, N.C. (Sept. 19) — Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., took another step toward his fifth Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series championship with a $5,000 victory by leading all the way in the Hall of Fame 50 at Carolina Speedway. Weeks won his fourth series event of the season, all of them coming in the last seven races. | Slideshow
Weeks extended his series points lead with just two series events remaining. Chris Ferguson of Charlotte, N.C., was second and Dennis "Rambo" Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., who is second in series points, finished third. Ferguson edged ahead of Weeks early, but the move was negated by a caution when Justin Labonte rolled to a stop on the backstretch. Ed Gibbons of Manning, S.C., ran second late in the race but slipped back to fourth amid traffic on the final lap.
The series completes the weekend with a Sept. 20 event at Lancaster (S.C.) Motor Speedway.
