McGuire earns $5,000 at Florence's Fall 50

UNION, Ky. (Sept. 27) — Josh McGuire of Grayson, Ky., overtook Greg Johnson of Bedford, Ind., on the eighth lap at Florence Speedway and went on to lead the rest of the Fall 50 for a $5,000 payday in the track's season finale. McGuire, who won his first-ever feature at Florence, crossed the finish line ahead of Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., in the unsanctioned event. Brandon Green of Walton, Ky., finished third followed by fellow Kentuckians Eric Wells of Hazard and Jerry Rice of Verona. Notes: McGuire's Rayburn Race Car has a GCP Racing Engine and sponsorship from D.J.'s Kitchen Corner, Poske's Performance, Glenny Glass, Tri-State Floor Covering, Performance Rod & Custom and K&E Trucking. ... McGuire's victory follows a $5,000 victory seven days earlier at Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio. ... Rick Corbin rolled over in a first-lap accident that also involved Steve Landrum and Adrian Nichols. No one was injured. ... Among drivers failing to make the feature: Gary Engle, Bob Lanter, David Spille and Bobby Carnes.
