Clanton picks up $6,000 as Tennessee champ

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 11) — Sizzling Shane Clanton of Locust Grove, Ga., stayed on a recent hot streak with a flag-to-flag victory in the unsanctioned Tennessee State Championship at Crossville Raceway. Clanton, the 2008 World 100 winner who won the previous night in Ringgold, Ga., led all 56 laps for a $6,000 payday at the third-mile oval on the Cumberland Plateau as three Georgians grabbed top-five finishes. | Slideshow
Dale McDowell of Rossville, Ga., was second followed by Crossville's Randy Weaver, Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga., and Mike Weeks of Friendsville, Tenn. Tommy Kerr of Maryville, Tenn., was running second when a flat tire knocked him out of contention; he finished ninth.
