Madden tops Ultimate Series action at Wythe
RURAL RETREAT, Va. (Sept. 2) – Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C., notched a $4,000 victory Friday night at Wythe Raceway in the first event of a tripleheader weekend for the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. Madden dominated the 40-lap race, picking up his second victory of the season on tour that was formerly the Southern All Star East Series.
Ty Dillon of Welcome, N.C., followed Madden to the finish in the runner-up position while Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., finished third in a rare Ultimate Series appearance piloting Justin Labonte's car. Series points leader Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, Ga., was fourth while his closest challenger in the standings, Mount Holly, N.C., driver Chris Ferguson, rounded out the top five. Four-time defending series champion Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., finished sixth.
