In the Southern All Star main event, Davenport started outside the front row and faced virtually no challenges in leading all 50 laps at the 3/8-mile oval. He had no problem weaving through lapped traffic midway through the race in building up a full straightaway advantage, and he pulled away after the final lap-35 caution for the victory. Travis Pennington squeezed past Stacy Holmes to take the runner-up slot on the 15th lap and finished third while Casey Roberts, Ken Schrader and Dennis “Rambo” Franklin rounded out the top five. Polesitter Randle Chupp, who got stuck in the outside groove and quickly faded to sixth, was among the victims of a lap-seven stackup exiting turn four along with David Smith and Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, who was treated by emergency personnel for a possible broken hand. Benji Cole was also involved but was able to continue.
Immediately following his SAS victory, Davenport climbed behind the wheel of his own No. 49 car and cruised 40 laps to outrun Matt Long and Smith for a victory. In other action in Late Model-type cars, Jamie Oliver won the 40-lap Southeastern Late Model Sportsman Series feature.
