Bub McCool of Vicksburg, Miss., and Chris Wall of Holden, La., conquered the “North” on the weekend of March 21-22. In a pair of events sanctioned by the Mississippi State Championship Challenge and Arkansas Motorsports Professionals, McCool won the weekend opener at North Alabama Speedway near Tuscumbia and Wall won at North Mississippi Speedway in Corinth. | North Alabama slideshow
At North Alabama, McCool outran Wall and Ray Moore in racing to victory. At North Mississippi, the two-time MSCC champ Wall led all 50 laps to outrun Moore and David Ashley for a $2,500 payday.
Notes: Breazeale was fast qualifier at North Alabama and Wall was fastest at North Mississippi. ... A flat tire early in the North Mississippi feature hampered 2007 AMP champion Jon Mitchell. ... Justin McRee’s machine flipped at North Mississippi when he got pinched against the frontstretch wall. McRee emerged from the car on his own with no serious injuries. ... Breazeale ran among the top five most of the race at North Mississippi but dropped out late in the race.
