Final-lap pass lifts Autry to Clash victory at 311
MADISON, N.C. (Oct. 27) — Eighth-starting Scott Autry of Fayetteville, N.C., overtook Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C., exiting turn four on the final lap of Saturday’s Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series finale at 311 Motor Speedway to earn $4,000 for his first series victory of the season.
The polesitting Smith settled for second in the 40-lap race ahead of two-time series champion Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., Johnny Pursley of Clover, S.C., and Jay Sessoms of Stanley, N.C.
With his 13th-place finish, Luke Roffers of Concord, N.C., wrapped up his first-ever series championship, topping Smith by 10 points in the final standings.
