McDowell tops Weaver at North Georgia
CHATSWORTH, Ga. (April 6) — Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., raced to his third victory of the season Saturday night at North Georgia Speedway, earning $4,000 in the third-mile oval’s Ultimate Super Late Model Series event. | Slideshow
The third-starting McDowell took the lead from Team Dillon Racing teammate and polesitter Austin Dillon of Welcome, N.C., in the race’s early laps and cruised through the remaining distance on his way to the second Ultimate Series victory of his career.
Sixth-starting Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., crossed the line second followed by seventh-starting Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C. Dillon slid back to fourth at the finish while defending series champion Casey Roberts or Toccoa, Ga., outdueled 2011 series champion Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., to finish fifth.

McDowell’s previous Ultimate Series victory also came at North Georgia on March 31, 2012. ... Riley Hickman claimed the tour’s season-opening event at Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway March 10, but did not enter Saturday’s race. ... The series returns to action May 11 at Friendship Motor Speedway in Elkin, N.C.
