Hill becomes ninth tour winner at Boyd's
RINGGOLD, Ga. (May 24) — The points championship had been decided, but the first-year Spring Nationals still had a chance at something special Friday at Boyd’s Speedway — a ninth winner in nine series races. | Video
Pole-starting Vic Hill of Mosheim, Tenn., made sure it happened, leading all 40 laps for a $4,000 payday. Hill took the checkers ahead of Jeff Smith of Rocky Face, Ga., Mark Vineyard of Knoxville, Tenn., William Thomas of Phenix City, Ala., and 12th-starting Jake Knowles of Tyrone, Ga.
Series champion Steve Casebolt of Richmond, Ind., had already wrapped up the title when officials decided the points race was concluded with the May 17 rainout at Boyd’s; Friday’s event served as the non-points makeup and Casebolt wasn’t in attendance for a race twice postponed by weather.
Hill’s victory was his first of 2013. His previous win came last November with a $10,000 payday at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tenn.
