Starnes breaks 10-year drought at Lone Star

P&W Sales SUPR SeriesKILGORE, Texas (May 26) — Robbie Starnes of Dayton, Texas, and his Seventy-Seven Inc. Team erased a near 10-year drought on the P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racing with Sunday’s victory in the fourth annual Memorial Day 50 at Lone Star Speedway. He earned $2,500 in become the seventh winner in seven SUPR events.
Starnes started third and took the lead around lap 29 after leader Tyler Erb of Magnolia, Texas, had a flat tire and never looked back. Allen Tippen of Minden, La., finished second with Shane Hebert of Lafayette, La., in third. Robbie Stuart of DeRidder, La., and Jim Bryant of Natchitoches, La., rounded out the top five.
Starnes grabbed his first SUPR victory since Aug. 2, 2003, when he won in Kilgore. He has seven career SUPR victories overall, the last three at Lone Star.
