Hebert grabs SUPR victory at Baton Rouge

P&W Sales SUPR SeriesBAKER, La. (June 1) — Pole-starting Shane Hebert of Lafayette, La., became the first two-time winner on the P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racing tour Saturday with a $2,500 victory at Baton Rouge Raceway. | Slideshow
Hebert took the checkers ahead of Texans Kevin Sitton of Baytown and Tyler Erb at Magnolia with his victory at Baton Rouge. SUPR points leader Rob Litton of Alexandria, La., and Allen Tippen of Minden, La., rounded out the top five.
Hebert notched his third career series victory. He captured the series opener March 2 at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

Allgayer Racing has three SUPR victories; Jeremy Payne also won for the team March 3 at Kennedale (Texas) Speedway Park. ... The 82nd SUPR event at Baton Rouge was the first at the tour’s de facto home track since July 30, 2011. ... David Ashley Jr. of Zachary, La., a three-time series champion, made his first series appearance in a long while in finishing seventh. Ashley, whose last series victory came in 2010 and last title in ’06, has spent recent seasons racing modifieds along with helping Late Model newcomer Mikey Kile, who was sixth at Baton Rouge. ... Patrik Daniel drove Shane Barbara’s No. 23 in the main event. ... Drivers failing to make the feature lineup: Jason Polite, Joey Credidio, Shane Barbara and Curt Lipsey. ... SUPR drivers head to Greenville (Miss.) Speedway on June 8; Rob Litton won the tour’s trip to the gumbo clay oval in April.
