Whitener dominates 50-lap Mike Peters Open
OCALA, Fla. (June 29) — Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., notched his third United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series victory of the season Saturday at Bubba Raceway Park in capturing the Mike Peters Open. | Slideshow
Whitener, dominating all the way, earned $5,000 in capturing the race that honors for the former owner of Florida’s oldest auto racing track.
Tyler Ivey of Tallahassee, Fla., finished second with fast qualifier Rich Pratt of Anthony, Fla., in third. Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., was fourth and pole-starting Austin Kirkpatrick of Ocala, who struggled on restarts when two spark plug wires got disconnected, rounded out the top five in the 50-lapper.
