Lloyd grabs season's first NLMS victory
ALBANY, Ga. (Aug. 31) — Polesitter Ivedent Lloyd Jr. of Ocala, Fla., led every lap of Saturday’s Hedman Hedders National Late Model Series event at Albany Motor Speedway to earn $3,000 for his first victory of the season on the Georgia-based tour for spec-engine Late Models.
Hometown driver Cale Simons moved from fourth to second early in the 50-lapper but could never seriously challenge the leader. He settled for the runner-up finish after holding off late pressure from Tyler Ivey of Tallahassee, Fla., who finished third.
Kitt Sealy of Moultrie, Ga., was fourth at the finish, while NLMS points leader Jason Fitzgerald, the Jacksonville, Fla., driver who claimed the tour's May 25 program at Albany, settled for fifth as the tour made its second and final visit to Albany’s third-mile oval this season.
