Rain halts Toilet Bowl Classic; completion March 15
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (March 8) — Late-night rain halted Saturday’s Tuckassee Toilet Bowl Classic finale at Clarksville Speedway after nine of 40 laps with Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., out front.
After the wet racing surface caused slipping and sliding that ended feature prematurely, promoter William Scogin agreed to pay feature starters half the posted purse with Shirley pocketing $2,500. | DirtWire | Slideshow | Video
The feature event will resume March 15 for the final 31 laps with drivers returning battling for the remainder of the original $5,000-to-win purse. The winner will receive at least $2,500.
