Allen picks up $4,000 for first-ever Clash victory

GASTONIA, N.C. (June 6) — Polesitter Tim Allen of Kannapolis, N.C., took command after battling five-time series champion Ricky Weeks at Carolina Speedway and went on to his first-ever victory on the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series. Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C., finished second followed by Furman Parton, series points leader Dennis Franklin and Jonathan Davenport.
“Thank you, Jesus!” said Allen, who earned $4,000 for his victory. “We have been struggling all year long and we have been looking for a way to hook it all up. Man, what a great place to break out. ... "
Weeks, the night's fast qualifier, picked the outside front-row starting spot and battled up front early before mechanical problems forced him pitside.
Notes: Allen's GRT Race Car has an LED engine. ... John Pursley of Clover, S.C., won the night's Crate feature. ... The series was scheduled to complete the weekend with a $4,000-to-win event at Lancaster (S.C.) Motor Speedway.
