Chupp races to Clash victory at Lancaster

LANCASTER, S.C. (June 7) — Polesitter Randle Chupp of Troutman, N.C., led flag-to-flag to $4,000 at Lancaster Motor Speedway in capturing his third Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series victory in four 2008 starts. Series points leader Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., challenged Chupp throughout the race, nearly getting alongside on lap 33, but settled for second in the 40-lapper.
Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., finished third followed by Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C., and Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., who started outside the front row but fell back.
Notes: Chupp's Rocket Chassis has a Rand Clary Racing Engine and sponsorship from Starrette Trucking and Powell Construction. ... Ninth-finished Craig Shuffield won the Heintz Brothers Performance Hard Charger award. ... The series is scheduled to run June 13-14 at Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway and Tri-County Speedway in Brasstown, N.C.
