Owens races to $7,500 victory at Wartburg

WARTBURG, Tenn. (July 3) — Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tenn., led all the way in the Mack Trucks 50 at Wartburg Speedway for an unsanctioned victory worth $7,500. Owens got a jump on fellow front-row starter and long-time modified rival Mike Marlar and raced to victory. Marlar, of Winfield, Tenn., was second followed by Dustin Linville of Lancaster, Ky., Dale McDowell of Rossville, Ga., and Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C. The race was slowed by seven cautions, all but two in the first half of the race.
