Stateline SpeedwayBUSTI, N.Y. (Aug. 30) — Fourth-starting Rich Gardner of Waterford, Pa., took the lead on the 11th lap at Stateline Speedway and went on to win the inaugural Lloyd Moore Memorial at Stateline Speedway. Gardner earned $5,000 in outrunning polesitter David Scott of Garland, Pa., in the 30-lap feature.
Scott and fellow front-row starter Doug Eck of Corry, Pa., battled up front early before Gardner swept into the lead. While Eck faded, Scott stuck with Gardner as the frontrunners entered lapped traffic in the final 10 laps. While Gardner successfully maneuver through the traffic, Scott briefly lost the second spot to Greg Oakes before moving back into the runner-up spot. Oakes was third followed by Eck and Scott Gurdak in the event that honored the pioneer NASCAR racer who died in May at age 95.
