Johnson zips to front, wins at Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (July 19) — Mike Johnson of Lompoc, Calif., charged from his ninth starting position into the lead in just 11 laps at Santa Maria Speedway and went on to his second Western Allstars DIRTcar Late Model Series victory of the season. Johnson, who earned $3,000, overtook Nick Bartels on lap 11 and held on to outrun Bobby Hogge IV of Salinas, Calif. The victory was Johnson's third in a row overall in Chris Sivesind's No. 75 as he followed up a pair of unsanctioned victories on July 11-12 in Ely, Nev.
Devin Crockett of Arroyo Grande, Calif., finished third at Santa Maria followed by John Lowrey of Bakersfield, Calif., and A.J. Kirkpatrick of Castroville, Calif. Bartels ended up 15th. The next Western Allstars event is July 26 at Bakersfield Speedway.
