PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. (Aug. 16) — Fifth-starting Brad Williams of Tucson, Ariz., won at Prescott Valley Raceway to capture his first-ever victory on the Southwest DIRTcar Late Model Series. Williams outmaneuvered and outran polesitter Art Lacy of Casa Grande, Ariz., and fellow Tucson driver Mark Fowler to win the first series event since June 28. Tommy Hussak III of Picacho, Ariz., rallied from 15th to finish fourth after rebounding from an early incident. | Family cheers Williams to victory

Lacy took the early lead and faced challenges from Fowler in the early laps. The third-place battle took a turn on the sixth lap when four drivers — Joey Moriarty, Lonnie Parker Jr., Mike Tahtinen and Wes Hall — tangled, moving Williams up to third. Fowler took the lead from Lacy on the restart and built a half-straightaway margin while Williams tried to take second from Fowler. Williams grabbed second on the 15th lap and with five laps remaining, he caught Fowler. The higher-running Williams pulled even with Fowler entering turn one, then made the winning pass exiting turn four to lead lap 21.

Lacy regained the second spot from Fowler in the closing laps, but it was too late to catch Williams, who had a commanding lead at the white flag.

Notes: The first caution appeared on the second lap when Wayne Noyes and Keith McKinney got together. ... McKinney slowed to bring out a lap-four yellow. ... Prescott Valley hosts the next series event on Sept. 6
