Drake captures Shootout finale as Kirby wins title

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Sept. 19) — Steve Drake of San Luis Obispo, Calif., captured the West Coast Shootout finale Saturday at Bakersfield Speedway while Mike Kirby of Torrance, Calif., finished third to wrap up the miniseries championship. | Slideshow
Drake earned $2,000 in winning the last race of the six-race collaboration between Bakersfield and Santa Maria Speedway. Kirby, who led Drake by 11 points entering the finale, picked up the championship.
Nick Bartels of El Segundo, Calif., was second in the feature followed by Kirby, A.J. Kirkpatrick of Castroville, Calif., and Clay Daly of Santa Inez, Calif.
