Hogge completes sweep of 25th Bud Nationals

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Oct. 9) — Bobby Hogge IV of Salinas, Calif., completed a big weekend at the 25th annual Budweiser Nationals Saturday, sweeping the Late Model and modified features at Bakersfield Speedway.
Hogge, who won Friday's Late Model opener for a $2,000 payday on the West Coast Shootout tour, repeated on Saturday to lead every lap from the pole position for another $3,000. His victory in Saturday's modified feature paid $2,500. | Slideshow
Hogge took the checkers in Saturday's Late Model feature ahead of hometown driver John Lowrey while former race winner Steve Drake of San Luis Obispo, Calif., was third. Clay Daly of Watsonville, Calif., and Trevor Glaser of Tangent, Ore., rounded out the top five finishers.
Mike Johnson started outside the front row and ran second until dropping to the infield with mechanical problems with three laps remaining.
Mike Kirby of Torrance, Calif., finished 11th wrapped up the West Coast Shootout championship.
