Parker tops Thornton in Total Seal at Tucson
TUCSON, Ariz. (Oct. 15) – Six-time series champion Lonnie Parker Jr. of El Mirage, Ariz., raced to his second Total Seal Late Model Dirt Racing Series victory of the season Saturday night, earning a $1,000 payday at USA Raceway.
Defending series champion Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., advanced from the ninth starting position to finish second while Nick Bartels of El Segundo, Calif., started and finish in third spot. Joey Moriarty of Phoenix, Ariz., finished fourth while Canadian driver Ricky Weiss of Winnipeg, Manitoba, rounding out the top five after starting 11th.
Parker’s triumph Saturday gives him a series-leading 64 victories, more than 40 wins ahead of Adam Crippen (21) of Tucson.
Weiss, whose competing at USA Raceway in preparation for the track’s Wild West Shootout mini-series January, won Friday night’s Total Seal event at the 3/8-mile racetrack.
The Total Seal Series wraps up its season with another doubleheader weekend Nov. 11-12 at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz.
