I planned to use this space this week to rave about another thrilling race at Duck River Raceway Park, as the World of Outlaws Late Model Series was supposed to be in town last Friday. I’ve bragged repeatedly about the delight that Duck River provides and has provided in exhilarating finishes time and again as of late.

Each year at my day job — publisher of a small weekly newspaper in the smallest county in Tennessee — I am tasked with coming up with a full 12-month calendar’s worth of promotions for four different departments. Though I work at a small weekly, we’re owned by a large parent company that owns about 30 newspapers in four states.
