After a week of beautiful weather and fine racing, here are the superlatives from Volusia Speedway Park's DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH:

Best driver: The two drivers who have proven over the years to be the sport’s top two drivers proved it again at Volusia. Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, Tenn., and Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., each won two races and were hands down the best two drivers of the week. Picking the better of the two is a difficult task. I’ve been around racing for about as long as I can remember. During that time, I’ve heard plenty of drivers make some bold statements.

But during an interview Monday afternoon, Tyler Reddick said something that could possibly be the boldest statement I have ever heard from any driver.

The 15-year-old from Corning, Calif. — who at that point had never even won a Dirt Late Model feature — all but predicted that he was going to win a race by the end of Speedweeks. And he didn’t just say it MORE

So much for the Georgia portion of the 2011 Georgia-Florida Speedweeks. Even though officials at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania and Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick tried their hardest to get their respective events in this weekend, the weather didn’t cooperate.

To some, the rainouts might not have been too big of a deal. These aren’t the first races to be hampered by weather, and certainly won’t be the last. But for me personally, the weekend washout was a huge letdown.
