Driver severely burned in Ohio wreck
Late Model driver Charlie Floyd, 26, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, remains in critical condition after suffering severe burns following a Friday night rollover incident at his hometown Southern Ohio Speedway.
According to a report by WSAZ in Huntington, W.Va., Floyd was battling for second when he was involved in a pileup at the 3/8-mile oval. Floyd’s car rolled to its side and then rolled over completely, bursting in to flames seconds later because of leaking fuel. Floyd was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center and later flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital with burn injuries.
Southern Ohio Speedway cancelled the remainder of the racing program as well as its scheduled event for April 22.
