Eldora driver's funeral Thursday
Funeral and visitation arrangements have been announced for driver Shane Unger of Rossburg, Ohio, who died following his involvement in a multi-car heat-race crash during Saturday night’s World 100 finale at Eldora Speedway.
Unger’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, Sept., 14, from 4-8 p.m. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio, just 14 miles south of Unger’s hometown track. There will be a service of remembrance held on Thursday, Sept., 15, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery in Webster, Ohio.
Citing his many fans and friends in racing, Unger’s family asks that mourners dress casual in their favorite race shirt for the visitation.
A 35-year-old veteran of the Dirt Late Model and open-wheel modified ranks, Unger worked at Voisard Tool in Russia, Ohio, as a machinist. His survivors include the love of his life, Michelle Heindl of Rossburg; daughter Lexi Unger and son Owen; and brothers Shawn and Shad Unger and their wives.
The family wishes memorial contributions be given to a fund for Lexi and Owen. Condolences for the family may be expressed through www.zecharbailey.com.
