New Mexico tripleheader postponed
Uncooperative weather has forced Southern New Mexico Speedway to postpone this weekend's inaugural Short Track Shootout, the Las Cruces track announced this morning. Facing wet conditions and forecasts for high winds and cold temperatures, the event was rescheduled for March 17-19.
The biggest Late Model racing in track history includes a pair of $5,000-to-win events and a $10,000-to-win finale. Additionally, a $25,000 bonus posted by event sponsors Mesilla Valley Transportation and Gallardo Construction puts $45,000 up for grabs for any driver who can sweep all three races.
Modifieds ($3,000-, $4,000- and $5,000-to-win), X-mods, legend cars and stock cars are also on the card with practice scheduled for March 16.
The Short Track Shootout takes over dates originally set for the track's Winter Meltdown. All pre-purchased spectator tickets and pit parking stalls will be honored on the new dates for the Short Track Shootout with more information to be announced. Visit snmspeedway.com for more info.
Correction: Updates with new days March 17-19 instead of March 10-12.
