Rain postpones NeSmith finale at Ocala
Due to wet conditions and more rain forecast for Saturday evening, officials with the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series and Bubba Raceway Park were forced to postpone the 12th annual Chevrolet Performance World Championship until Sunday afternoon.
Hot laps for the $10,000-to-win, 100-lapper at the Ocala, Fla., oval are scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start. Pit gates will open at noon, with grandstand gates opening at 2 p.m. Track officials said Saturday's grandstand passes and pit armbands will serve as rainchecks Sunday.
Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill., and Jamie Perry of Ringgold, Ga., won $2,000-to-win features on Thursday and Friday, respectively. Gaffney, S.C., driver Dennis Franklin won last year's finale.
