No injuries in Berck's trailer fire
The race trailer and Late Model of five-time and reigning Malvern Bank Late Model Series champion Kyle Berck of Marquette, Neb., suffered heavy damage in a fire north of Hampton, Neb., the team reported Friday afternoon. No one was injured. | Full story
Berck’s team had scarcely left the shop on state highway 41D en route to the Malvern tour opener at Crawford County Speedway in Denison, Iowa, when the trailer caught fire.
“It's amazing what can happen in 10 minutes,” the team wrote on Berck’s Facebook page. “As many of you have heard our race trailer caught on fire; we lost the trailer and the car. Thank the Lord everyone is okay and no one was hurt.”
The 47-year-old Berck, the tour’s all-time winningest driver, continued to Crawford County and competed in the backup car of fellow Nebraska driver Brian Kosiski.
Photos of the heavily damaged trailer were posted on Berck’s Facebook page and on the website of the Aurora (Neb.) News-Register, which reported that Hampton fire crews assisted in extinguishing the flames.
