Co-owner of Laurens oval dies at 76
Janet Cogsdill, the co-owner of Laurens County Speedway who promoted the Laurens, S.C., oval with her husband Fred for more than 30 years, died Tuesday night from complications of a stroke while in hospice care in Clinton, S.C. Cogsdill, who suffered a stroke April 15, was 76.
The Cogsdills bought the Laurens oval in 1978 and ran their first race in 1979, operating the oval through the 2010 season. Fred Cogsdill still owns the track.
Besides her husband, Cogsdill is survived by son Michael and three grandchildren.
