DIS mourns long-time supporter
Stanley Pete Sr., a long-time supporter of Delaware International Speedway whose S.R. Pete & Sons HVAC Service sponsored the Delmar track’s Super Late Model division, died Monday after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. He was 59.
In a Facebook post, the track praised the Salisbury, Md., resident’s “dedication to the sport” and Pete’s “million-dollar smile and positive attitude was contagious. You will be missed by us all, but we will live with the memories we shared.”
Pete operated the family HVAC business for more than 20 years. Along with his racing interests, he was an avid fisherman and was a youth baseball coach and umpire for more than 20 years. Survivors include wife Judy, four children and seven grandchildren. For a complete obituary, visit hollowayfh.com.
