Hell Tour loses Wilmot, I-55 events
The rain-soaked saga of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals continued Tuesday with the series losing two more races and making plans to makeup another. | Complete Summer Nationals coverage
Tuesday afternoon rain in Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway rained out another leg of the month-long series before drivers could take the track, while officials later announced that Saturday’s event at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., was cancelled.
I-55’s event had already been pushed back a week because floodwaters have prevented the track from hosting a 2019 event, and officials announced late Tuesday night that the facility won’t be accessible or dry enough to host July 6's event.
The series that has completed nine points events has 10 points races remaining, starting with Wednesday’s visit to Davenport (Iowa) Speedway’s quarter-mile layout and including July 8’s conclusion of June 14's rain-halted program at Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, Ill.
The series also announced Tuesday that the conclusion of Sunday’s rain-halted event at Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway would be made up on July 25 as a non-points race. The race was rained out after 16 of 40 scheduled laps with Brian Shirley out front.
