Buck Simmons Memorial postponed
Facing a wet forecast, the Ultimate Southeast Series postponed Friday’s Buck Simmons Memorial at Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway to Aug. 30, officials announced. The event pays $4,141-to-win. Other early August special events hampered by weather:
Cherokee Speedway: Sunday's 35th annual Stick Elliott Memorial on the Carolina Clash circuit was rained out after time trials; the race in Gaffney, S.C., was rescheduled for Aug. 24.
Wythe Raceway: Rain hit the Rural Retreat, Va., oval during Saturday's prelims and postponed the rest of the program to Sunday; the American Crate All-Star event pays $10,019-to-win.
Hagerstown Speedway: Rain hit the Maryland half-mile after time trials and forced postponement of the Ultimate Northeast program; the event will start from scratch on Aug. 24.
Winchester Speedway: Rain hit the Virginia oval after prelims, forcing the postponement of Saturday's Mason-Dixon Shootout Series event; the feature will be made up but no date was announced.
Blue Ridge Motorsports Park: Saturday's Blue Ridge Outlaw event at the north Georgia oval was rained out; no makeup date was announced.
Volusia Speedway Park: Saturday's Florida Late Model Series event in Barberville, Fla., was rained out; no makeup date was announced.
Thunderbird Speedway: Friday’s Malvern Bank Cash Money Super Dirt Series event in Muskogee, Okla., was cancelled by weather; no makeup date was announced.
