Tazewell’s richest event honors Corum
To honor the late Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway Hall of Famer and driver of the Stars and Stripes No. 21, Tazewell promoter Gary Hall announced Saturday that April 11’s Schaeffer's Spring Nationals event will be the inaugural Little Bill Corum Memorial 75 with an upgraded purse paying $21,000-to-win.
The Super Late Model special co-sanctioned by the Schaeffer's Iron-Man Series will mark the richest winner's purse in the high-banked oval's history, the track announced.
Corum, winner of more than 300 races in a career stretching from 1959-’89, died in February 2019 after a battle with cancer. He was 80.
Tazewell Speedway plans to open its season with March 21 practice before weekly racing starts March 28. For more information, visit tazewellspeedway.net.
