RUSH's Battle of the Bay scrapped
April 15-18’s four-track Battle of the Bay Mid-Atlantic Speedweek has been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic, Sweeney RUSH Racing Series officials announced. The Crate Late Model series will consider other potential dates for the tracks later this season.
The season-opening quartet of events were scheduled for Delmar’s Delaware International Speedway, Georgetown (Del.) Speedway, Potomac Speedway in Budds Creek, Md., and Winchester (Va.) Speedway with $3,000- and $4,000-to-win purses. The next scheduled series races at May 16-17 at Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y., and Eriez Speedway in Hammett, Pa.
Other scheduling changes connected with the pandemic:
Lake View Motor Speedway: A halt in racing at the South Carolina track has scrapped Saturday's Blue Ridge Outlaw Series event and April 11’s Ultimate Southeast event; no makeup dates were announced.
Friendship Motor Speedway: The Elkin, N.C., track’s April 4 Carolina Clash and April 11 Fastrak Racing Series events has been postponed; no makeup dates were immediately announced.
USA Raceway: The Tucson, Ariz., track announced an indefinite closure, cancelling Saturday's Southwest Dirt Racing Association event.
Chatham Speedway: The Louisiana oval's temporary closure has cancelled Saturday’s Louisiana Late Model Series event and April 10-11’s $10,000-to-win Smooth 50 for Super Late Models. The track will consider makeup dates in the second half of the season.
