Wheatland scrapped as Lucas amends slate
With unfavorable weather forecasts holding steady for the Wheatland, Mo., area midweek, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials cancelled May 12-13 events set for Lucas Oil Speedway and added dates to the Lucas Oil Reopening Tour doubleheaders in Georgia and Florida in ensuing weeks. | Lucas Oil schedule
The decision scraps the trip to the Midwest and creates tripleheaders on May 19-21 at Golden Isles Speedway near Brunswick, Ga., and May 25-27 at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla. Both tracks will host three $7,000-to-win programs with Golden Isles adding a Thursday show and East Bay running an extra race on Memorial Day Monday.
All six Lucas Oil Series events will be contested without spectators with strict social distancing guidelines for competitors amid the coronavirus pandemic. The racing will be streamed live on Lucas Oil TV and free on the circuit’s Facebook page.
Drivers pre-entered for Wheatland events have the option to roll their two entries over to Golden Isles or East Bay; use their entries for any future Lucas Oil Series events; or contact Ashley Schwallie by email (ashley@lucasdirt.com) or text (951-496-8061) for refunds.
