East Alabama postpones state championship
Facing forecasts for heavy rain as Hurricane Sally approaches, East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City on Tuesday postponed the weekend's 48th annual Alabama State Championships. The track will consider a makeup date for an event that included $5,000-to-win Super, Limited and Crate Late Model events.
Among other recent schedule adjustments for sanctioned and special Dirt Late Model events:
• Modoc (S.C.) Raceway has rescheduled its Ultimate Southeast-sanctioned Jack Starrette Memorial, a $5,022-to-win event, for Nov. 14. The track also added an unsanctioned $4,000-to-win Super Late Model race for Oct. 17.
• The Bullring at RICo Fairgrounds in East Moline, Ill., removed Saturday’s $3,000-to-win IMCA race from its schedule.
• Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio, closed since mid-summer, confirmed this week that Friday’s scheduled $3,000-to-win Super Late Model event is cancelled.
• Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown, N.C., shifted Friday's Topless Outlaws Series event to Saturday in hopes of avoiding late-week rain from the remnants of Hurricane Sally.
