Fund-raising auction at Hidden Valley
Hidden Valley Speedway is hosting a fundraiser for a track worker and his son injured Sept. 15 when an errant street stock struck an infield utility pole at the Clearfield, Pa., racetrack.
A chance auction is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Oct. 10 with a bonfire and pig roast to follow. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish and drinks; the track will provide the pig. To donate items to the auction, call Mel at (814) 592-6825.
Kenny Mayhew, the track’s corner flagger, suffered a fractured back, broken ribs and serious hand injuries; his hand requires additional surgery and he’s scheduled go undergo physical therapy. His son Kinser Mayhew, a photographer, suffered a broken collarbone in the accident. All proceeds from the event will go to the Mayhew family.
