Charlotte’s Late Model Mania postponed
Facing limited supplies of tires, the Dirt Track at Charlotte and Fastrak officials have agreed to postponed June 18-19's Late Model Mania at the 4/10-mile oval in Concord, N.C. The event was scheduled to feature the Ultimate Southeast Super Late Model Series, Fastrak's Crate Late Model touring series and the Southeastern Late Model Sportsman Series.
“I have to consider our weekly tracks and teams” Fastrak's Stan Lester said in an organization release. “They depend on us to take care of them and with an extremely limited (tire) supply left at the Hoosier warehouse, our tracks need to be taken care of first, then we worry about the tours. FT crate spec tires are scheduled to be built in July, so they have to last until that time.”
Officials hope to reschedule the event for later in the season after material and labor issues have thrown a wrench in supply chains for racers.
“It is a tough situation to be in. But if we have learned anything the last year and half, it is that we have to expect the unexpected," said Ultimate Southeast director Kelley Carlton, who had scheduled the tour's first visit to Charlotte. "We were really building some momentum for this event. but we will just figure out a date and reschedule it. Hopefully, they can get the tire situation rectified soon.”
