Former PPMS winner dies at 52
Former western Pennsylvania Dirt Late Model racer Doug Crawford died Nov. 15 after a brief illness. The Castle Shannon, Pa., resident was 52.
Crawford was a three-time winner at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pa., including an Aug. 4, 2001, victory on the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series. Along with PPMS, he also competed regularly at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. He became the MACS tour's 41st winner in flag-to-flag fashion in the 40-lap Nick Garin Memorial, earning $4,000.
Douglas James Crawford, who operated an HVAC business, is survived by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. The funeral was Nov. 19 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Pleasant Hills, Pa. Find a complete obituary at jeffersonmemorial.com.
