Robinson fielding Late Model for Briscoe
NASCAR Cup Series driver Chase Briscoe of Mitchell, Ind., will pilot a Super Late Model for fellow Hoosier Kent Robinson as part of his recently announced Chase’n Dirt Tour, Robinson's Bloomington-based team announced today.
Briscoe, who drives the No. 14 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Cup Series, will make his debut for the team at April 27’s Castrol FloRacing Night in America at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway.
“It’s really cool for a couple of Indiana natives to be teaming up for this deal,” said Robinson, who will continue to enter his No. 7r in events throughout the season, including next week at Brownstown. “Chase and I started talking, and he told me was wanting to do more dirt racing, and I was honest with him that I couldn’t race as often as I would like right now because of how busy things are with my family business. We kept talking, and one thing led to another, and this deal came together.
“It’s an honor to have a racer as accomplished as Chase in one of our team cars. Right now, we’ve got a half dozen or so races penciled in, and we hope to add some more.”
Briscoe, who also plans to compete in sprint car, midget and microsprint dirt events in 2022, will pilot a Kent Robinson Racing No. 14 Longhorn Chassis powered by a Jay Dickens Racing Engine and sponsored by Mahindra Tractors, Ford Performance Racing School and JB’s Salvage.
Briscoe’s other Super Late Model dates are on the XR Super Series at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., on May 11-12, the Castrol tour event June 1 at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill., and Tri-City’s World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series event June 3.
