Rain spoils Lucas Oil's Bluegrass trip
A wet forecast spoiled Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series weekend events in Kentucky, the series announced today.
Series officials are evaluating potential makeup dates for Friday’s postponed 18th annual John Bradshaw Memorial at Junction City’s Ponderosa Speedway. Saturday’s postponed 36th annual Ralph Latham Memorial at Florence Speedway was rescheduled for June 30.
Among other weather-affected changes for May 5-8 special events:
American All-Stars: Saturday’s American All-Star Series presented by PPM event at Wartburg (Tenn.) Speedway has been rained out. No make-up date was announced.
SBLMS: Friday's Steel Block Late Model Series event at Ohio Valley Speedway in Washington, W.Va., is rained out. No make-up date was announced.
ULMS: This weekend's Zimmer's United Late Model Series events at Big Diamond Speedway in Forestville, Pa., and Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway were rained out. Big Diamond's series event is rescheduled for July 15, while Port Royal's date is cancelled altogether.
Topless Outlaws: Friday’s series race at Crossville (Tenn.) Speedway has been cancelled due to the high percentage of rain and thunderstorms. No make-up date was announced.
Ultimate Southeast: Saturday's Lancaster (S.C.) Motor Speedway event on the Ultimate Southeast Super Late Model Series was scrapped before the 17 entrants could time-trial; no makeup date was immediately ahhounced. Friday's tour event Laurens (S.C.) County Speedway was called off because of a gloomy forecast and officials hope to make up the $4,014-to-win event.
MLRA: Wet conditions and and a wet forecast forced the cancellation of Friday and Saturday Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association events at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo.; the events won’t be rescheduled.
Hoker Trucking: The tour’s season-opening tripleheader weekend was rained out. The Hoker Trucking Series rescheduled Thursday's Dale DeFrance Memorial at Marshalltown (Iowa) Speedway for July 7. Friday’s event at Sports Park Raceway in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Saturday’s race at Independence (Iowa) Speedway won’t be rescheduled, but both tracks plans on attempting to run regular-season programs this weekend.
GRT: The GRT Legends Late Model Series event at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., rained out; no makeup date was announced.
Comp Cams: Facing wet grounds with more rain expected, officials cancelled Friday and Saturday’s Bad Boy 98, the doubleheader Comp Cams Super Dirt Series weekend at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust, Grove., Ark. The $5,000- and $12,000-to-win events won’t be rescheduled.
