Coltrane to enter Georgia Hall of Fame
The late Phil Coltrane of Free Home, Ga., a two-time Dixie Speedway Late Model champion and three-time winner on the Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Racing Series, is among six members of the 2022 Georgia Racing Hall of Fame class.
In addition to Coltrane, two asphalt short-track racers, a promoter and mechanic, a long-time NASCAR Cup Series campaigner and a motorcycle racing legend will be inducted Aug. 13 in Dawsonville, Ga.
Short-track standout Billy McGinnis and track promoter and racing mechanic Ed Massey captured the most votes as three groups of voters selected the top six from a slate of more than 65 nominees. Dale Singleton, the motorcycle competitor known as The Flying Pig Farmer, was voted in as were former dirt racer and Cup driver Henley Gray and two-time All Pro Series champion Randy Couch.
“This is a really great class,” Hall of Fame founder Gordon Pirkle said. “These racers are so deserving, and we at the Hall of Fame are looking forward to giving them the recognition they have earned.”
