The Yankee Dirt Track Classic, one of Iowa's longest running Dirt Late Model races, has been cancelled for the 2022 season, promoters at 300 Raceway announced.
The Farley, Iowa, Speedway track, scheduled to host $3,000- and $10,000-to-win events Sept. 2-3 on the sister Malvern Bank Super Late Model Series and Hoker Trucking Series, cancelled the weekend because of tire expense and shortages, staffing and inflation, according to a post on the track website.
The event, which has been run every season except 2018 since originating in 1978 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was won last season by Luke Goedert of Guttenburg, Iowa.
