Cochran's CRUSA finale rained out
A wet forecast forced the cancellation of the season-ending Crate Racin’ USA Late Model Series event at Cochran (Ga.) Motor Speedway, the series announced today. The Thanksgiving weekend event, scheduled to include a pair of $10,000-to-win events and a 10-car showdown among the top five finishers of each race, won’t be rescheduled. With the cancellation, Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn., is crowned as the series champion with a 134-point edge over Jake Knowles. Welshan will receive $10,000 for the title.
Other Thanksgiving weekend schedule changes:
Swainsboro: Friday and Saturday's $3,000- and $7,500-to-win 604 Crate Late Model events at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway were rained out and rescheduled for Dec. 2-3.
Diamond Park: An unfavorable forecast cancelled Saturday's GRT Legends Series event at Diamond Park Speedway in Nashville, Ark.; the race won't be rescheduled.
East Lincoln: Saturday's Blue Ridge Outlaw series event at East Lincoln Motor Speedway in Stanley, N.C., was postponed to Dec. 4.
Springfield: Saturday's rainy forecast forced the postponement of Springfield (Mo.) Raceway's Busch Light Turkey Bowl XVI to Feb. 24-25.
Buckshot: Friday's Southern All Star event at Buckshot Speedway at Clanton, Ala., was cancelled because of an unfavorable weather forecast. The race won't be rescheduled.
