Holiday weekend rainouts, cancellations
Among June 30-July 4 Late Model special and sanctioned events affected by weather or other issues (look at other DirtWires for national touring races):
Tyler County: With a strong line of storms expected around race time, Sunday's $5,080-to-win Earl Hill Memorial at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, W.Va., was postponed to July 8.
Eriez: Sunday's ULMS-sanctioned Mike Farr Memorial at Eriez Speedway in Hammett, Pa., was rained out; the $4,100-to-win event was rescheduled for July 9.
Quincy: Sunday's Lucas Oil MLRA event at Adama County Speedway in Quincy, Ill., was rained out; officials are looking for a new date for the tour's first visit since 2019 to the quarter-mile oval.
Lake Cumberland: Sunday's DIRTcar Summer Nationals event at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky., was postponed to Monday.
Swainsboro: On June 20, Swainsboro Raceway announced that it will host the Southern Clash Late Models for a $2,500-to-win show on Saturday, July 8 (instead of July 1), with more details to be announced soon.
Sugar Creek: Saturday’s $3,000-to-win UCRA event has been postponed to Saturday, July 8 because of rain; Sugar Creek Raceway will also host Super Late Models next weekend along with all other divisions except Limited Late Models.
Fort Payne: Saturday’s $5,000-to-win unsanctioned Super Late Model event has been cancelled because of inclement weather; track officials have yet to announce a possible makeup date.
Marion Center: Saturday's Nathan Lauer Memorial for Super Late Models at Marion Center (Pa.) Speedway was rained out; the track said a new date for the $5,000-to-win event is being sought.
Clarksville: Afternoon thunderstorms sweeping through the area forced the cancellation of Saturday's DIRTcar Summer Nationals stop at the Tennessee bullring. The race will not be rescheduled.
I-70: A forecast of severe weather prompted officials to postpone Saturday’s Lucas Oil MLRA-sanctioned Firecracker 40 at I-70 Motorsports Park in Odessa, Mo., to Sun., July 16.
Adams County: Saturday's Malvern Bank Series-sanctioned Gail and Karen Hampel Memorial at Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa, was rained out and reset for July 29.
Portsmouth: The Boone Coleman Memorial Gator 40 weekend was postponed by a gloomy forecast. The track plans to reschedule the $5,000- and $10,000-to-win Super Late Model events.
Brownstown: Saturday's $5,000-to-win Born Free 40 at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway was rained out with no makeup immediately announced.
Black Hills: Friday's High Plains Late Model Series event at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., was postponed to Sunday.
Rapid: Friday’s Repairable Vehicles.com Tri-State Series event at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa was rained out; no makeup date was immediately announced.
Atomic: With the threat of inclement weather, Saturday's Steel Block Late Model Series at Atomic Speedway near Chillicothe, Ohio, was rained out with no makeup date announced.
Hattiesburg and Jackson: The Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series weekend doubleheader scheduled at Hattiesburg Speedway and Jackson Motor Speedway was scrapped because of conflicting races; Hattiesburg will proceed with its six-division night (minus Super Late Models) as planned, while Jackson has cancelled its show entirely.
C.J.: Rain and forecasts for more at C.J. Speedway in Columbus Junction, Iowa, cancelled Friday's Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association event. The race won't be rescheduled.
Elkins: Facing a wet forecast, track and series officials postponed Saturday's Fastrak Racing Series event at Elkins Raceway in Kerens, W.Va., to Aug. 5; the track planned to host a regular-season event, including Super Late Models and Crate Late Models.
